Romanian drama Three Kilometers to the End of the World follows 17-year-old Adi, who comes home one evening, badly beaten up. His father wants revenge, until he hears that Adi has been caught kissing another man.

In a Romanian village, Dragoi, a devout family man, is heavily in debt to local gangster Zentov. When his 17-year-old son Adi is brutally attacked, Dragoi assumes it’s a warning to settle his debt. However, he uncovers a far more harrowing truth: Adi wasn’t targeted because of his father’s financial troubles, but because of his sexual orientation.

With powerful performances and a relentless narrative, the film exposes how tradition can weigh heavily, what the cost of silence can be, and how much courage it takes to fight for justice in a world determined to look the other way. Three Kilometres to the End of the World was selected for the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival and was awarded the Queer Palm.
